Accommodation
Using natural materials where possible, the accommodation units were designed and built to ensure maximum comfort, luxury, space and privacy. The private patios provide magnificent views of the valley below, mountains, cliffs and indigenous forests.

Five of our eight chalets were built on the edge of a small rise and each offers a secluded look-out point into the valley – the ideal place to spend a romantic hour or two!
Chalets have been furnished with ultimate comfort in mind: a choice of queen-sized bed or two twin beds, tea and coffee making facilities and a comfortable reading area. Carefully chosen African décor and accessories create a feeling of serenity and elegance.
Unique en-suite bathrooms provide a stone-built shower, hand-made ceramic basin set in a hardwood slab and a separate toilet. All units also feature an open air outdoor shower – very private and exotic!

Our “Romance Chalet” offers just that little more for a special occasion – whether you are on honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary, birthday or if you are just very romantic. Even more spacious than the other chalets, the “Romance Chalet” offers a bath with exquisite view into the bush and a larger open air shower. Very secluded and idyllic!

FAQ's
How old is the lodge: Iketla was built in 2002. When we bought the land, there were no improvements or any buildings. We designed the lodge and managed the entire building process. Great fun!!
How big is the reserve: A total of 540 ha (1200 acres). Our nearest neighbours are at least 4 km away which means we are pretty much isolated from any outside noises and light pollution
Will we see any wild animals: Maybe! We are not a game lodge. However, there are various animal species which roam freely in the area. Our reserve is not fenced on all sides which means that wild animals can come and go as they wish. We do however spot some animals on a daily basis.
What is the climate like: Iketla lies at 1205 m above sea level. The climate is mild to hot in summer with the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winters are mild and sunny during the day with cold nights.
How long should we stay at Iketla: Obviously it depends on your own needs and time constraints. The ideal stay is 2 to 3 nights – allowing you time to unpack, relax and still do some sightseeing without being rushed. Staying for a third or fourth night allows you to schedule a day of relaxing and exploring the nature trails. Most of our guests who return to Iketla for a second or third time, tend to stay for at least 3 nights and that must say something!
What about Malaria: Iketla lies in a Malaria-free region
Are you planning to expand: No, not at all! Eight chalets are ideal for us and our guests. If we go any bigger, the lodge will loose its intimacy, personal service and the interaction with guests that we enjoy so much.
Is it safe to do walks on our own: Yes, it is safe to walk on your own. The nature trails are very well marked and well maintained. However, walks at Iketla Lodge is undertaken at your own risk.
Are there any costs involved in guided walks: No additional costs involved.
